Project 365 Week 9

This is a record for me--posting three weeks worth of layouts =0)!  I hope you enjoy them. We've got a busy weekend ahead, three tennis matches tomorrow, phew!

Project 365 Week 6 Layout

So--Week 6, we're halfway through February, good grief, Mary! Do you remember in elementary school how it seemed like an eternity until Christmas, Easter and Summer vacations arrived? As an adult, I feel like I blink and the week is over.

At least this is a short week, so I'm not hallucinating ;0). Umm, my gastroenterologist (new doctor,  liking him a LOT--email me if you want more info about him) has me on new meds for the stomach issues. It's too early to say if I like it yet. The possible side effects include, trembling of the hands, restless leg syndrome, dry mouth, etc...so far so good. 

We went to the beach today for beach day with the gang, and the weather was chilly, and then it started raining so we packed up and came home. As usual, good friends and good food, so no complaints there.  

Hope y'all had a great Valentine's Day. I was gifted with flowers and other goodies by my wonderful family, and we had dinner at home, shrimp and scallops in garlic cream sauce, which I think I'll recycle somehow into pasta sauce for tomorrow's dinner =0).

Everyone but me is snug in bed, so I'd better get going.

Project 365 Week 5 Layout

Wow, February already! Time is flying by this year. Whew, it's been a busy week!

Tennis, Hula, Tennis, tennis, tennis. We're getting back into the swing of things for the Spring tennis season. Tay's team will be moving up an age level AND a playing level, so they'll all be playing 14s (3.0). Craig and Guy are coaching, along with the addition of Coach Bruce, who teaches class during the week. We're excited for them. They will have an uphill battle, as at this age level, things are more competitive. 

We also got to see Craig's side of the family--The Hardesty side on Saturday at a baby luau for Rhoda's grandson, Aukai. That was nice, we hardly ever get to see them ;0).

So what are y'all planning for Valentine's Day? We're going to have dinner at home, not sure what yet, Brooke suggested shrimp scampi (or fondue), I'm not in  the mood...but I don't know what I'm in the mood for. Any suggestions?

Inauguration Day Layout

I forgot about this layout, and I was so excited about it! The pictures are not mine, but ones I got from the Yahoo picture gallery of the Inauguration. The picture of the cupcakes is mine, as close to the inauguration as I was going to get.

In a way, I wish we were there to see history made, and part of me is super relieved that we weren't there, the size of the crowd would've FREAKED me out, big time!

I LOVE the picture of him doing the shaka, it's great to know that Barack Obama remembers where he's from. I did hear that he did it when the Punahou band arrived, and that was very cool of him to do. I also love that he seems to be such a family man.

I converted my cupcake toppers to fridge magnets, so, if any of you would like a magnet, I have some extra, let me know--I'm saying this to all 4 readers of our blog ;0). Hahahaha--I can still hear Charliz saying to the McCain supporters in the Fourth of July Kailua Parade "move it along, Obama '08, Obama '08"

Project 365 Week 4 Layout

So here's Week 4, I feel like I'm falling behind already. I managed to get this layout done in less than an hour, which kind of  surprised me! I guess those Photoshop classes ARE paying off. I'm finding that of the Adobe applications that I have, I like Photoshop the best. I'm getting used to InDesign--forcing myself to use it rather than MS Publisher (did I tell you how people in my class looked when I admitted to using MS Pub? Looks of horror and condemnation! *GASP*)

Anyway, I am planning to take more Photoshop classes in April, does anyone want to join me? ;0). I have to say, I'm loving Adobe CS4, probably because I've learned more about it. So far, I've taken Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator classes. Illustrator hasn't been my favorite, but I need to do more with it, so we can become 'friends'. Hahahahaha

Gung Hee Fat Choy!

Happy New Year everyone--Chinese New Year that is--whichever way you say it =0) Kung Hee Fat Choy, Gung Hay Fat Tsai, etc...

We took in the festivities (without the girls) on Friday evening with Marcy, Mike, their girls and family in Chinatown. We wandered the streets, Maunakea and part of King Street and saw lots of Lion dances and firecrackers lit up for good luck in the New Year.

We had a yummy dinner at Ruby's of won ton with HOT sauce. I was surprised that there weren't flames coming out of Mike's ears!

That's one of the lions we saw dancing on the street and the other shot is of the lion (I like those white ones!) dancing in front of Eastern Garden Foods, which belongs to the Auntie of one of Brookie's Girl Scout friends. 

I was a little sad that the girls weren't with us, but Craig had a good time, and that made me happy.

We saw the lions at the Cultural Plaza doing the platform on poles type of lion dancing, which is scary in itself. I video-ed it, but I can't upload it, the file is too big. Oh well...

Project 365 Week 3 Layout

So, Week 3 was busy! We crammed in a lot of stuff! Waited for the storm, nothing happened, it was a teense windy, but not too bad. Had a great weekend--Mahalo Nohea & Thadd for having the girls over so we could go on a dinner date and see the fabulous Gloria Estefan and the Miami Sound Machine in concert.

As you can see from the pictures, the highlight of the week was going to Sherwoods with our friends. We're planning to go again next month, hope y'all can make it.

Yes, I know the polka dot backgrounds (in the bottom section) aren't lining up nicely, the Grandma Chang A.R. in me is annoyed by it, and I WILL fix it, but I wanted to post anyway so we can get going to pick up the girlies. Update 1/29/08--I managed to line the polka dots up as best as I could, and it took me several tries to get it just AR right ;0). I also changed some of the text colors to make it easier to read.

Project 365 Week 2 Layout

Hi Gang!

I finally finished my second week layout. I didn't take a picture everyday *GASP*, but I did give you a view of what my week was like ;0). I'm thinking about printing all of my layouts at the end of the year, that is why the page may look a little funny to you with the text separated in parts. We'll see how far I get with this project.

Did you all survive the high winds and rain yesterday? We were fine, except for a few stray lemons on the ground, and bits of the trampoline cover disintegrating in the grass.

We spent the morning washing the cars, washing the dog,trimming the mock orange hedge, sweeping up the clippings, and are now relaxing a little bit before we leave to catch a movie, drop the girlies off with Auntie N, Uncle T and Baby K, and go to dinner and the Gloria Estefan concert--maybe I can get some shots of that. Hahaha, yeah right, if the security guards don't wrestle me to the ground!

If y'all are free on monday, we're going to go to Sherwoods to hang out at about 11am with the Lunch Bunch and their families, from my office.

Project 365 Week 1 Layout

Okay--I got home a little bit early today and rethought my Project 365... I've decided I'll try and post by the week, that way I won't tire any of you out, and I can get some work on my Photoshop skills as well...

Project 365 Day & Destruct-O Doggie

Wow, Day 8 already? Sheesh, we're already 1 week into the new year!

For today's viewing pleasure, I have a picture that I took this morning at my office. From my window, I could see a double rainbow, but once I ran downstairs to take the shot, I could only capture one. I then played with Photoshop CS4's automated Photomerge feature. Talk about cool! Too bad the telephone lines were in the shot ;0).

Destruct-O Doggie strikes again. Our darling doggie, Randi has a penchant for chewing plastic and wood. She doesn't eat it, but loves to chew it up, despite the fact that Sisterella has a bone--thoughtfully provided by Doggie cousins Miki and Hina--along with a rawhide bone. When we came home today, there was a plastic hanger on the floor--where she got it is a mystery to me--with little bits of plastic surrounding it. I didn't get a picture of that mess, but did manage to get a shot of her two brushes and one comb, all of which she gnawed on. Sigh...gotta love her though, she's a GREAT doggie. As the phrase goes, "Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole" and that she has. I sometimes feel like I have another toddler in the house, but it's nice that this one doesn't talk back =0)

Project 365 Day 6 & Day 7

Ahhh, a visit to the dentist--no cavities to report from any of us.

Days 6 & 7 The Girls on their first visit to Nordstrom, they were in awe of the makeup displays =0)!

We tried to go to lunch at the Nordstrom Cafe, but there were too many people in line and that was discouraging, so we headed over to Shirokiya instead, and then took our lunch to Grandma Lee's house.

I have to admit that I am cheating with this post--I'm using pictures that I took on the same day. I still love looking at the koi ponds at Ala Moana--what kid that grew up in Hawaii has never stopped to look at them, and beg for coins (yuck!) to throw into the pools, despite the warning signs?  When the girls were little, we could sit next to the koi pools for entertainment. 

Project 365 Day 4 & Day 5

Here's my snapshots for yesterday and today. Post Christmas images ;0)

Poinsettias and Christmas cookies. Aren't the cookies cute? Craig brought them home at Christmas--we're not sure who they were from, but they were decorated so nicely I almost didn't want to eat them. 

I received my Phiten necklace in the mail today from Amazon, I'm hoping it will fix some of my post-holiday baking aches and pains. Cross your fingers for me!

Project 365 Day 3

Yes, I know--3 posts in a day, but I'm trying to get caught up! Day 3 is pictures of Randi the Wonder-Dog and Bunnykins, the neighborhood bunny that has adopted us. She's a small bunny, and lets us pet her from time to time. I have realized that she is conditioned to the sound of the plastic bag being unrolled as we fill her dish, She appears out of nowhere when we fill the dish and gobbles the pellets up.

She and Randi-Lani have a strange relationship, neither is afraid of the other. Randi likes to 'stalk' her, and she runs away, but often times will come straight back and hop right up to Randi. It's cute, and we love to watch them. 

Project 365 Day 2

Here's the shot for Day 2--it's the lilikoi vine. The cutting of the vine from Ken & Jen's Pacific Heights house that they gifted us with when we moved to Kailua in 2002. They kindly gave us a cutting of the lilikoi and a bunch of Monstera from Ken's Dad's house in Nu'uanu. I am proud to say that I have harvested several batches of lilkoi from this vine, and haven't killed it yet =0)! The Monstera, on the other hand are hanging in there, but the slugs love 'em and munch the leaves to our dismay. 

This year's crop has produced about 2 1/2 dozen lilikoi, which I will juice and turn into lilikoi butter to have with scones! Mmmm! When I get to it, I will post the recipes for the butter and the scones.

Would anyone like a cutting? LMK, I'm planning to cut the vine back after the final 8 lilikoi are harvested. 

Hau'oli Makahiki Hou!/Project 365

Hi Gang~I finally did it, signed up for a free blog at blogger.com. I want to wish all of you a Happy New Year.

I've decided to participate in a project for the new year, it's called Project 365, and  the challenge is to take a picture everyday, of your everyday life. I can't guarantee that I'll post everyday, but I  am hopeful. 

Here is the first picture of my project, a picture of Brooke, Taylor and Kaila at Grandma Carol's house in Alewa Heights on New Year's Day.
